Our story
Our story is every mum’s story
So, while EveryMum began with one mum – and her determination to make a difference, today we’re a global movement dedicated to saving the lives of mothers and babies through advocacy and action, dedicated to breaking down barriers and revealing the shared experiences that connect us all.
How it all began
EveryMum exists to ensure that no mother dies giving life
The story of EveryMum begins with Kate Taylor
Kate is our founder. But she’s also a mum. After losing nearly four litres of blood in childbirth, she knew she was lucky to be alive.
Volunteering in Cambodia showed a major disparity between those who could access maternal healthcare and those that couldn’t. Inspired by her own childbirth experiences and the mothers she met in Cambodia, Kate’s mission grew from a personal moment into a powerful commitment to close maternal healthcare gaps and make sure that every mum, everywhere, could receive life-saving medical care during pregnancy and childbirth.
Kate returned to Adelaide, enrolled in University to become a midwife and convinced her University lecturer to help train traditional birth attendants. Since 2007 and with the help of hundreds of Australian maternal health specialists, Kate has been securing medical equipment, finding medical centres, training midwives, working with local governments and continuously developing ways to support mothers and babies in Cambodia and other underserved areas. Our life-saving mission had begun.

I didn’t set out to start an organisation. I just wanted to help. There’s a lot of ordinary, everyday people out there who just want to make the world a better place.
Kate Taylor
EveryMum Founder & Mum from Adelaide, Aus

Kate reminds us that real change begins with small actions. It’s about real people who are willing to step up and do what they can. A collective effort can accomplish so much. And EveryMum proves that when commitment meets action, lives can be saved, communities can be strengthened and the impossible can become possible.
No mother should die bringing life into this world. And we’re determined to see that vision turn into a reality, one mother at a time.
